Stimulate your circulation, strengthen your digestion & boost weight loss with Capsicum.

The History

The capsicum pepper, also known as red pepper or chilli pepper, is native to America where it has been cultivated for over 7000 years. Christopher Columbus bought these peppers back to Spain and introduced them to Europe in the late 15th Century. They are now grown in many countries all over the world.

Capsicum Pepper

The capsicum pepper contains the active ingredient capsaicin, which is responsible for its hot burning properties. The hot peppers are known for their pungency and vibrant colours, and are also well known catalysts for other herbs. They are also rich in vitamin C, which provides additional health properties.

Cayenne Pepper Benefits

  • Circulation – many people suffer from poor circulation, of which cold hands and feet are the most common symptoms. The warming properties of Capsicum can help to improve circulation and enhance blood flow around the body by dilating the blood capillaries.
  • Pain Relief – Capsicum is believed to offer anti-inflammatory benefits through its ability to desensitize nerve fibres. It is often taken as a pain relief supplement by people suffering from many different conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, back pain and menstrual cramps.
  • Stimulant – Capsicum triggers the release of endorphins in the body which many experts believe can delay the onset of fatigue. Research would also suggest that capsicum can stimulate the immune system into action, which fights off infections and helps boost energy levels.
  • Digestive Health – Capsicum can offer relief from numerous digestive complaints. These include an upset stomach, diarrhoea and bloating. It is believed to achieve this by increasing stomach secretions. This also causes Capsicum to act as a laxative to help relieve constipation.
  • Weight Loss – there are many links between cayenne pepper and weight loss. Their thermogenic properties can enhance metabolism by increasing body heat. This process, which is known as thermogenesis, increases the resting metabolic rate and helps the body burn more fat. As a result it reduces calorie intake by turning calories into heat for a 20 minute period after eating.

Side effects of Cayenne Pepper

Capsaicin is an approved ingredient and side effects are rare. Side effects that have been reported include stomach irritation, sweating and a runny nose. It is likely safe during pregnancy, but due to the lack of clinical evidence it is not recommended.
